  • Caleb Matthew

Hello everyone! Please join us in welcoming our son into the world, Caleb Matthew.

He was born on July 6, 2011 at 6:05pm.  Weighing in at 5lbs and 1 oz, he is tiny but mighty.  Born 5 weeks and 3 days early he is doing well and avoided the NICU without any complications. Praise God for His protection and blessings on mama and baby.

    Some reminders of his namesake…

Joshua and Caleb were two of the 12 spies sent to scope out Canaan before the Israelites took possession of it.  While everyone feared the challenges of entering the promised land, Caleb spoke up and alluded to how God lead them in the past, and assured the people that He will carry them through by His *grace* and power.

    And so…

Caleb calmed down the crowd and said, ” Let’s go and take the land. I know we can do it!” Numbers 13:30

  • Campmeeting El Capitan 2011

So glad we got to go to camp this year.  I didn’t know how I’d feel, being 32 weeks preggo and all.  But I survived and it was so beautiful!  We had about 70 other church friends who joined us for the weekend.  It was very memorable to camp next to the beach.  Afterwards, my family and I had breakfast in Santa Barbara and visited the sights there.

G is sooo modest!  She refused to take off her t-shirt and just wear her bathing suit!  LOL.

Yummy breakfast at Moby Dick’s in Santa Barbara.  The view was amazing and so was the food!

  • No More School!

Hooray!  Hubby finished his last and final degree, a Masters in Public Health!  We drove out to Huntington Beach to celebrate.  We hung out at the beach and ate at Duke’s.  The food was delicious.  So proud of my hubby.  He can finally now enjoy the fruits of his labor.  After work he now comes home with free time!

The little one is so much fun lately!  She’s getting better at communicating her needs and we have a good time hanging out while papa’s at work.  She sure misses her papa when he’s at work though.  She talks about him all the time and whines and says she wants a kiss from him so I tell her to blow him kisses and that makes her feel better.  I guess Mondays are hard after bonding with him so much over the weekend!

  • 7 months preggo at Ikea

Never ever spend five hours at Ikea when you are 7 months pregnant!  Last Sunday, we spent the day at Ikea.  I didn’t drink much water at all for fear of frequent bathroom visits.  Haha.  Did I learn my lesson!  The next day I threw up and spent all day in bed with abdominal cramps.  Later that night I decided to head to the hospital just to be sure baby was ok since the cramps were coming every 5 minutes.  Sure enough they hooked me up to the monitor and I was having preterm contractions.  After a few hours at the hospital, test results showed baby was doing fine and that I must have been dehydrated and worn out.  It was a wake up call to slow down and take it easy.  G was five weeks early so I have to be extra careful that baby boy makes it to full-term!  Thank you God for taking care of us!!

  • Cambodian New Year & G Turns Two!

Wow, seems like forever since I’ve updated.  Lots have happened around here.  We celebrated Cambodian New Year last month.  I made a Cambodian dress for G to wear that day.  For my first dress I think I did ok huh?

After our church service we headed to the San Pedro Friendship Bell to enjoy the weather and the beautiful scenery.

G turned two years old on April 24th.  She is full blown into her terrible twos and tells me each day who is in charge.  She loves to scream when she’s frustrated and insists on doing everything BY. HER. SELF.  For instance, putting on her shoes, feeding herself, putting groceries on the conveyor belt, etc.  Ughg!  I’m praying for patience everyday!

The Birthday Girl.  We tried to avoid a party and called it an Easter Celebration/Family Get Together.  But obviously the family wasn’t gonna let it go.  :)

  • Baby Brandon

G has a brand new baby cousin!  Baby Brandon came to visit yesterday and oooh is he a cutie!  G got on the couch and held Brandon so gently and sweetly.  It’ll be good practice when her brother arrives!  :)

  • Did I Mention?

Don’t think I mentioned this yet, but we are having a BOY! I always somehow knew this was gonna be a boy. I was craving so much meat and gaining weight too fast. This one is a kicker too. He’s always on the move and squirming around like he’s running laps in my belly. Haha. We are super excited about raising a boy but of course we also have our fears. I think raising a boy in this day and age is difficult. We hope he grows up to be a loving Christian and serves God in whatever occupation he chooses. At least he has a great dad for a role model!

  • A Year Later

Our family just got back from five days in Washington, DC.  Hubby had a conference there and so we tagged along and made use of our time there.  Grace was there a year ago when she turned one year old.  We went back to the Lincoln Monument this time around and took another picture.  Grace will be turning two in just about a month!

More hair, more teeth, but she still looks the same size!
