Huntington Beach
Life seems so busy lately. Don't know why. We finally had a free Sunday and decided to take a stroll along HB pier. The weather was perfect!
In regards to Baby #2, I'm currently 4 months along. I feel this baby is growing way too fast and way too big. I've gained already ten pounds and have already pulled out the maternity jeans! Way too early!
Have a wonderful week everyone!

G's New Table and V-Day
G is showing more signs of wanting to to learn letters. It's funny...if I wear a shirt with words on it, she'll read it and say, "B-I-B-I." She thinks she's spelling, it's so cute. We decided to buy her a small table and a whiteboard easel for her at Ikea. She's making good use of it too!
And a Happy Valentine's Day to everyone! This year hubby and I decided that the best way to show each other love was to slave in the kitchen and make yummy meals for each other. Yesterday hubby made G and I breakfast that included whole wheat pancakes and fresh fruit. Today I slaved practically all day to make stupid chocolate covered strawberries from hell. Haha. Ok, there's a story behind this. I had no idea how hard this would be. I even watched a tutorial on youtube before attempting to make them myself. Follow the bullet see where I went wrong...
Youtube Directions: Buy semi-sweet chocolate chips. Put a cup of it in the microwave and turn on for two minutes. Stir chocolate chips until all melted and liquid like. Dip strawberry in chocolate. Put in fridge.
Sounds easy right? WRONG!!
What Ended Up Happening to Me:
1. Walked to Staters (I was babysitting my niece and she didn't have a carseat).
2. Bought cheap Staters chocolate chips (what's the difference)?
3. Put chocolate chips in a microwave and turned on for two minutes. Hmm...the chips didn't melt. Tried another two minutes. Big mistake. The whole thing burned and smoke started rising from the microwave!
4. Okay, let's try this again, but this time let's use a pot. Burned that too!!!
5. Restart, let's walk back to Staters and buy a new bag of Nestle chocolate chips. Maybe quality does matter in this case.
6. Put Nestle chocolate chips in microwave for two minutes. Success!!! They melted!
7. Dipped strawberries in melted chocolate. Success!!!
8. Ooops, dropped my fork. Chocolate all over the floor and some even splashed on the walls! Have you ever tried cleaning chocolate up after it hardens!? Big mess.
9. Ok, walk the platter of dipped strawberries carefully to fridge.
10. OOOps! The wax paper is slippery! Down goes five perfectly good strawberries.
11. Another mess to clean up. Ughhgghghg!!!So there. My first experience with chocolate dipped strawberries. And I don't even have a picture of it! Ha!
Well, at least dinner went smoothly and I pulled that off just in time before hubby got home. All was worth it when I saw what hubby brought home...
Unfermented Chardonnay, Sparkling Rasberry Juice and Orchids from the LL Florist! No red roses from Staters this year baby! Yes!

A Sunday at Shoreline
Not much going on here. Seems like this pregnancy is whizzing by so fast. I'm currently around 10 weeks pregnant. Haven't really gotten sick, which is a blessing. I do get nauseous if I don't have food in my belly. Therefore eating has been a chore lately. I have to snack every couple of hours to keep this baby satisfied. I've also been having strange dreams of food though. Haha. I dreamt of an In-n-Out burger a few weeks ago. I wonder if one day I'll just give in and eat one, even though I'm vegetarian.
Last Sunday we got hubby's parents and older brother out to enjoy the beautiful weather. It was much needed! We had a nice day. G's grandparents had not seen her in three weeks. They made Cambodian noodles (num-ba-chook) for us and everything! Very yummy!

Fully Weaned
The day has come. I think every mother who nurses her child knows how emotional and sad this day can be. At one year and eight months G is now getting no more physical nourishment from me. A few weeks ago we set up the goal for G to be completely weaned sometime at the beginning of the new year. Surprising, G did really well. I guess she was ready after all. I initially wanted to continue breastfeeding till she was two but decided that wasn't gonna happen with the new baby and all. For those who think two years old is a bit long...I thought so too at first but after doing some research found out that on average kids around the world wean around age 3 or 4. And the World Health Organization recommends two years of nursing.
Thankfully G did fine weaning. We were down to just three feedings a day. The morning was easy to drop. The nap feeding was hard for her since this was the only way she knew how to fall asleep. She cried the first day and then looked at me the next day during nap time and said, "No more mum mum?" She now lays in bed with me while I read her a few books and falls asleep in no time! And then tonight, after her bedtime routines, I picked up her out of the rocking chair and put her into her crib without mentioning there was no more mum mum. She looked panicked at first and pointed to the rocking chair and then cried for two minutes wondering why the change in routine. But her papa was there to calm her and told her to lay down and amazingly she did and fell asleep after a few minutes!
After that whole ordeal tonight, hubby gave me a hug. I told him I was kinda sad now knowing she wasn't needing me any more for nourishment. And to make me feel all better he says to me, "Yeah, next thing you know she'll leave us and head for college." Thanks hubby for the reality check. Haha!
What was your experience like? Was weaning your child hard?

For Real?
Thank you everyone for the well wishes and congrats on Baby #2. It hasn't really hit me yet that another is on the way. It's funny how everyone says congratulations, whereas I think "Good Luck, you're gonna need it" would be more appropriate. How in the world am I gonna take care of two kids (two years and four months apart) at the same time? Yikes!

First cold
G is currently fighting her first cold...complete with runny nose, fever, and coughing. Usually the little one is always doing something around the house. She never sits still for a second and never lets me hold her long. Well, I took advantage of her being sick and held her like a baby, just like old times. We even sat down and watched half of Toy Story 2 until she eventually drifted off and fell asleep in my arms. I feel so blessed to be able to stay home with her, to get her through this. I'm even happy wiping snot off her nose. Ahh, the love of a mother.
G is so darn cute when she's sick. Here she is sleeping with her box of rice milk. She insisted having that next to her.
